Patricia finds her career path through the Sanctuary Trust Storehouse Project

Patricia started volunteering at Sanctuary Trust Storehouse Project in May 2018.

The Project helps previously homeless people furnish their new homes. Since 2009, we have helped those most in need acquire white goods essential for successful move on.

But the Project offers more than that; we also provide an opportunity for people to get back into the habit of working.

For example, before joining our busy team of volunteers, Patricia was unsure what kind of job she wanted.  Thanks to the Storehouse Project, Patricia has realised that retail is right up her street!  Patricia said, 'the volunteer work has been really diverse in terms of areas I have been working in and tasks I'm asked to do.  I have found the work really rewarding as well as fantastic experience.

Patricia highly recommends volunteering at the storehouse; she says 'the manageress (Sue) is amazing. If I had any problems I know I can go to her and talk about anything.  I have enjoyed working with the volunteers we have a laugh and joke which is really good'.

The Sanctuary Trust would like to thank Patricia for all her hard work; any shop would be blessed to have you working for them.  And special thanks to Sue and her team at the Storehouse, what fantastic job you do helping people get back into positive routines that help transform their lives.  Well done team Storehouse!

Verse of the Day

Sanctuary Trust works with homelessness and homeless related poverty and emergency homeless issues. God's Sanctuary was the vision of Sheila Halsall after seeing the level of homelessness Rochdale and later the homelessness Conwy and the substance misuse such as Drugs and Alcohol. By Providing emergency shelter for the homeless in supported housing services funded mainly through Supporting People we assist other providers such as Shelter homelessness, Petrus and Stepping Stones who are also supporting people through women's and men's hostels and floating support. We also have a Nightstop (crash pad). With our work in Wales we partner with Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) as they provide financial help for homeless through emergency shelter and their Supporting People funds. There are different kinds of accommodation available but what is needed is good quality supported accommodation with a strong business and development plan. We have also provided consultancy service to help others move closer to an answer to homelessness. Our social enterprise company, Sanctuary Trust Enterprises runs Noah's Ark Play Centre, The Storehouse Charity Shop.
