Not too long ago, Josh was struggling with a cocaine addiction that slowly unravelled this life. Using cocaine had caused relationships with his partner and family to unravel, and he eventually lost his job. Feeling as though he was out of options, Josh left everything behind, and began to rough sleep on the streets of Greater Manchester. With no local connections, Josh faced the difficult uphill battle of finding accommodation to save him from the cold and uncomfortable streets.
Josh was eventually found and supported by The Sanctuary Trust’s Rough Sleeper Initiative (RSI). He was supported with essentials, and eventually offered a place in Halsall House.
Over the past six months, Josh has shown incredible determination and resilience. With support, he has confronted his substance misuse and taken meaningful steps toward to rebuilding relationships with his family and partner. Josh is grateful to all those who have supported him in the last 6 months. He has kept a diary of his journey, hoping to one day be able to look back at his journey and even share it with other struggling once he has overcome the worst of his struggles.
Josh is taking on the Halsall Running Challenge on the 30th April, running with fellow housemates to raise money for The Sanctuary Trust. As he takes on the Media City Run, he hopes not only to raise money to help himself and others who have struggled with housing and substance misuse, but also to prove to himself how far he’s come.
