I am a mother of 5 children and was due a UC payment on the 20th December. I was relying on my payment to do my Christmas food shop and to buy my children’s smaller presents. I found out a couple of days before the payment was due that there was a problem with my bank account and was told that I would not get the payment till after Christmas.
This sent me into a panic about what I was going to do. I was in tears and just didn’t know what to do. I was then referred to Conwy Foodbank on the Friday morning.
That afternoon I was shocked when I opened the front door to a gentleman with lots of carrier bags of food and bags of Christmas gifts for the children.
Without Conwy Foodbank I would have been lost. I am very grateful to them for their help. I was offered a Christmas dinner hamper but as I have now had my payment I declined so that this could be given to another family that are struggling.
