Exciting Changes at Sanctuary Trust
We are pleased to announce important leadership changes at The Sanctuary Trust as we continue to grow and enhance our mission.
Since our start in 1990, David Lackner-Smith has led The Sanctuary Trust with unwavering dedication, shaping it into the charity it is today. After many years as CEO, and most recently sharing the role with John Wigley, David will now step back from his leadership role on April 1st, passing the baton fully to John. We deeply appreciate David’s vision, leadership, and the countless lives he has impacted through his work. Going forward, David will continue to support the charity as Founder & Ambassador, offering guidance and championing our mission.
John Wigley will now take the helm as CEO, leading The Sanctuary Trust into its next phase, driving forward our mission with renewed energy.
We are also excited to share the following leadership updates:
- Jody Rowley, formerly Manchester Area Manager, will become Head of Operations, overseeing the strategic direction of our projects and managing Area Coordinators.
- Rob Rowe, currently Development Manager, will officially take on the Head of Development title, focusing on expanding our services.
- Kirsty O’Brien, previously Office Manager, will now be Head of People, managing HR, company culture, and administrative functions—ensuring we continue to be a compassionate employer.
We hope these changes will strengthen our leadership team as we work to relieve homelessness, prevent substance misuse, and provide essential support to vulnerable individuals. We are confident these updates will help us expand our services and make a lasting impact.
