The Sanctuary Trust are pleased to report that Shirley has taken up a Senior role within Cornerstones Project (North Wales).
Shirley has been employed at the project for 7 years. Her passion for the work stems from her lived experience – in a past life Shirley herself was in / out of prison, mostly to fund her addiction. Therefore, Shirley understands, better than most, what it feels like to be homeless and without hope.
Shirley says –
‘I’m passionate about helping people who have walked similar path as myself. No case is the same, we all got a story to tell. I can relate to what the guys are going though because I am honest about my past. I believe my story can be inspiring to others. Its important that people know that there is a life after addiction. I’m not here to judge, you might feel guilt for lapsing but it’s a part of recovery and we are all learning’
Shirley main role at the Cornerstones Project is to support the residents develop skills towards independent living. Going forward, Shirley is taking responsibility for staff welfare, supervisions and training.
On behalf of the whole of the Sanctuary Trust family, we thank Shirley for her tremendous contribution to the Charity and wish her all the very best as she takes the next steps in her exciting Career at the Trust.
