The Students of Rochdale Sixth form college are doing a Project on Homelessness
They thought by visiting our emergency provision (STEP project) they might be able to come up with some fresh ideas on how they can play their part in ending homelessness in our Borough.
During their visit they learnt about the various different ways we can help people meet basic needs, such as; where to go to get access to food, clothing and accessing valuable support. We looked at the housing options of a homeless person and identified the reasons why people may require emergency housing Services like the STEP Project.
Then, the students got to meet some previous clients, people that have accessed emergency homeless provisions in the past. Many thanks to Kit, Brian, Mike and Ryan – these guys spent time with the students explaining homelessness from their prospective and helping the young people get to grips with this complex issue.
Hopefully, this was a really good learning opportunity for these young people. We look forward to hearing about how they plan to make a difference and wish their homelessness Project great success.
