The Sanctuary Trust Food Networks rise to the challenge

Since Covid hit and local soup kitchens had to close their doors, the Sanctuary Trust has been leading a coalition of partners to ensure vulnerable people do not go without food across Rochdale and Oldham.

In our experience , food poverty is definitely on the rise in the Boroughs of Rochdale and Oldham.  But thanks to our partners at the Kirkholt Community Church (Rochdale), the Impact Community Church (Oldham) and Angie’s Angels – together we have  we are rising to the challenges and ensuring vulnerable have access to essential provisions.

The two teams are even helping each other out.  Last month the Rochdale team at the Kirkholt Community Church had an outbreak of Covid 19 amongst the volunteers.  The whole team had to stand down for 2 weeks.  Step forward the Oldham volunteers, not only did they keep the Oldham network going they also crossed over the border to sure up the Rochdale effort!

Great team work guys!
